About Blists Hill
Blists Hill Victorian Town is an open air living museum that’s part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. It is built on a former industrial complex and features a variety of cottages and shops that recreate the Victorian era in every aspect, giving visitors an insight into how people lived and worked during that time.
The town offers a selection of shops and trades that would have been around in the Victorian times, each one working as it would have done back then. The shops include a traditional pharmacy, a candle maker, a sweet shop and a fish and chip shop, just to name a few. To add to the atmosphere all the staff are dressed in traditional Victorian clothing and visitors can see working shire horses which offer a ride in their carriages.
Throughout the year Blists Hill offers a variety of special events such as experience days as blacksmith or printer as well as bigger events like the heavy horse weekend or the miniature steam weekend.
As well as the array of things to do and see at Blists Hill there are also several cafes on site where visitors can enjoy food and drink during their visit. If you want to take a bit of the Victorian experience home there is a traditional sweet shop, a bakery and a gift shop which has a variety of food and gifts, most of which are made on site.
Blists Hill Victorian Town really does have something to offer everyone and the experience of walking down the cobbled streets and soaking up the atmosphere is a treat not to be missed.
