About Benthall Hall
Benthall Hall is a grand National Trust property situated just outside Broseley. Built in 1580 it is a Grade 1 Listed property that boasts beautiful features such as a blend of timber and brick work and its famous carved oak staircase. This enchanting estate, managed by the National Trust, welcomes visitors to embark on a journey through time, exploring the stately mansion, vibrant gardens, and beautiful surroundings.
The Benthall Hall gardens are a true delight, featuring a mix of formal designs and wilder, more natural elements. Wandering through the meticulously maintained paths, visitors can discover a variety of plant species, including rare and exotic specimens. The Walled Garden is a particular highlight, where fruit trees, herbs, and flowers coexist harmoniously. The carefully curated arrangement showcases the expertise of the gardeners who work tirelessly to maintain Benthall’s grounds.
Benthall Hall extends beyond its gardens, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the surrounding woodlands and meadows. Nature trails wind through the estate, providing a peaceful retreat for those seeking a leisurely stroll or a more adventurous hike. The Hall is situated along the banks of the River Severn and is not far from the historical Ironbridge Gorge.
Benthall Hall also has a church that was restored in 1667 during the English Civil War after the original mediaeval church was burnt down and is another unique feature of Benthall Hall which can be seen when visiting the property.
